Volunteering@yourlibrary
There are two ways to get involved. Either as a volunteer, or as a trustee.
Defining a Volunteer:
Volunteering is an act of service that is vital to growth and development of communities and individuals. Our volunteers are community-minded people who lend their time, expertise, and experience to the Library.
Volunteering at the Library:The Westlock Library is a non-profit organization that relies on volunteers to assist staff in many areas:

How Do YOU Benefit?
Volunteer Work Experience makes an excellent addition to any résumé and shows potential employers that you are involved in community-building through active participation in an established and respected work environment.

Board Trustees & Committee Volunteers
The Westlock InterMunicipal Library Board is a group of community-minded individuals that provide leadership and direction for the Library. All Board Members serve alongside Committee Volunteers with the common goal of enriching the lives of people through the Library and our literacy programs.
Trusteeship:
Trustees are members of the public appointed by Municipal Councils who work together to govern the Library. Trustees provide expertise, experience, or a willingness to serve in these areas:
-
Advocacy & Promotion
-
Financial Governance
-
Policy & Bylaw Development
-
Personnel Accession
Trustees also provide leadership to Committees made up of people like you.
Committee Volunteers:
Our Committee Volunteers share a deep desire and commitment to helping with literacy projects, programs, and events. The only requirement is a passion for the community and the Library.
This is YOUR Community. This is YOUR Library! Get involved…
How YOU Can Get Involved
Come and Look:
Board meetings are open to the public and are held on the first Wednesday of each month. Come and see if you would be interested in becoming a Board Trustee or Committee Member, or if you would like to volunteer to help the staff at the Library.
Come and Talk:
Speak with the staff about volunteering in the library, or about serving on the Board. Tell us how you would like to help and what area your talents, experiences, and skills would be best suited.
Come and Apply:
The Library accepts applications year-round for volunteers and for people interested in becoming Board Trustees. Ask at the Front Desk for an application form.
